Toomas Truumees

Toomas has over a decade of experience in corporate strategy and business development and has wide-ranging experience advising clients from the Fortune 500 to pre-IPO size organizations. His past and current clients include Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth, Merck, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, BMS, Mayo Clinic, and Memorial Sloan Kettering. In addition, Mr. Truumees has provided strategic support to numerous non profit associations and small and medium sized businesses across diverse industries.Mr. Truumees attended the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business graduating magna cum laude with a degree in American History and a concentration in Strategic Management.

John Austin, Ph.D.

Dr. Austin is a thought leader in the areas of team leadership, knowledge transfer in teams, and strategic change implementation. His research on knowledge-based decision making teams is widely cited in the academic literature as is his work on the strategic actions of internal change agents. He has been on the faculty at the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University and at The University of Washington and has taught Executives at The Wharton School, Duke Corporate Education, and Georgetown University.

Heathcare fact:  Dr. Austin was an early employee of health information pioneer HCIA and has conducted research on surgical team knowledge transfer..

 

Kathy Pearson, Ph.D.

Dr. Pearson is heavily involved in Executive Development at DSI and The Wharton School.  Dr. Pearson has served as the Academic Director for the Wharton Executive Management Program for Academic Surgery Leaders, the Patient Safety Leadership Academy Executive Program, the Nurising Leaders Program and the GlaxoSmithKline Executive Management Program for Pharmacy Leaders. Many of her participants are clinician executives, but she has also worked with executives from a wide variety of industries and has taught at Cedep at INSEAD in Fountainebleau, France.
 

Healthcare fact: Dr. Pearson has been heavily involved in developing computer simulation models for the health care industry, and she has worked with hospital clinicians in the area of patient safety.
 

Jim Austin (no relation to John)

Jim worked for 12 years at Baxter Healthcare, the last four as vice president of Strategy Development for the Renal Division. Jim has identified new business opportunities, facilitated annual strategy planning processes and worked with senior management on organizational development for this rapidly growing, nearly $2B division. In addition to his consulting work, Jim has taught courses on Healthcare Management, Business Strategy,  Healthcare Communication Strategies and Healthcare Informatics.
 

Healthcare fact: Jim recently co-authored  the article "A Look into the Future of the U.S. Medical Device Market"
